The club congratulates two of its members as they are both selected to join the Great Britan Freestyle Team
for the 2010 season! Josh Gosling was selected to join the mens squirt team and Rachel Bovill was selected
as the reserve for K1 junior ladies.

Many congratulations to Rachel Bovill one of the clubs regular white water freestyle paddlers who recently came a respectable third place in the junior female category of the British Kayak Freestyle Championships.

Slalom Interclub Finals

5th Place at the National Interclub Championship Finals at Cardington

A team of 13 paddlers represented the club at the Interclub championships this past weekend, finishing a respectable 5th out of 23 teams that entered.

Special thanks go to all of those that helped support the team during the event, whether that was as team manager, coaching support, judges or just supporters shouting the team down the course. Well done to Bryher Bergin and Jasmine Rand for creditable finishes in what was their first race.

Louise strikes gold in Spain!

Many congratulations to Louise Donnington, one of the Club’s regular slalom coaches, who has won a gold medal in the 2009 Canoe Slalom World Championships at La Seu d’Urgell in Spain this weekend. Along with Lizzie Neave and Laura Blakeman, she was a member of the Great Britain K1women’s team that came first in the team event, finishing over five seconds ahead of the Slovakian team that finished second.

In the individual women’s K1 event, Louise finished a very creditable 12th in the semi final, only narrowly missing qualification for the final.
